  • Death*: after 23 February 1795; Wake Co., North Carolina1
  • Biography*: 8 August 2020; from billykey.com:

I would like to point out that when Elisha Strickland settled on Moccasin Creek in 1760, he chose property with the creek flowing through the southwest corner. At the time, the Johnston County line was a few miles North. In 1771 the area that Elisha lived in become Wake County and in 1779 the adjoining Bute County to the North was abolished and Franklin County created. At that time, the boundary between Wake County and Franklin County was also changed to Moccasin Creek, thus putting the majority of Elisha Strickland's first grant in Franklin County. Over time, Elisha Strickland purchased adjoining improved properties.
