Mrs. Cumbee was born on June 18, 1926 in Mississippi and attended school there. After marrying and coming to Alabama, she was a long-time employee of West Point Pepperell at the Shawmut Mill. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling to parts of the U.S. with her husband and often other family members. She was also known as "Mamma C" to the many children in the LaFayette area when she and her husband, Charles, provided daycare for many years. She is survived by daughters Phyllis Langley (Felton), Charline Hand (Mike), sister Elsie Read, grandsons Kevin Hand and Kenneth Hand (DeAnna), great grandsons Kade Hand, Kyle Hand, Landon Hand, Cohen Hand, and great granddaughter Addison Hand. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Charles Cumbee, mother Kate Thompson, father Lee Thompson, and sisters Clara Jarvis, Edna Cook and Stella Stewart.¹

  Mr. Hendricks was born in Heard County, Ga., on March 2, 1931, to the late Dewey Hendricks and Gladys Yarborough Hendricks. He was retired from the textile industry, and was a faithful member of the Bethel Christian Church. He was a loving husband and father. Mr. Hendricks was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Betty Jean Blanks.
  
  Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Bethel Christian Church in the Glenn Community of Heard County with the Revs. Daryl Scott and Kenneth Johnson officiating. Mr. Henry Allen, long time friend of Mr. Hendricks, offered a brief eulogy. Debbie Pike and Pat Lipham provided music. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers were Brian Putzek, Sonny Lindenmuth, Ted Brown, Justin Brown, Leeland Chandler and Jim Bishop.
  
  Mr. Hendricks is survived by his wife, Winnie Fred Barnes Hendricks; one daughter, Birtha Powell; two sons, Bobby and Jonny Hendricks; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, all of Franklin, Ga.; two brothers, Curtis Hendricks of Franklin, Ga., and Hollis Hendricks of Carrollton, Ga.
