You may recall that not too long ago I asked you about Bradford Alexander Halsey, born 1981, a pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team.
Well, I did a little research on him myself, and have found that he is indeed a descendant of the Long Island, New York Halsey family.
His line, coming forward, is: Thomas Halsey and Elizabeth Wheeler; then Thomas Halsey and Mary Barrett; then Isaac Halsey and Abigail Howell; then Ephraim Halsey and Martha Conkling; then Sylvanus Halsey; then James Halsey who married Susannah Ingram in 1797 in Brunswick County, Virginia. And from there, Gideon Halsey, son of James and Susannah, who married Louisa Mansfield Grigg.
And then their son James H. Halsey, born circa 1820 in Hancock County, Georgia, who married Sarah L. Tucker, 29 Oct 1855, in Clay County, GA.
I’m not sure how much of this Georgia branch of the New York Halsey family is in the current edition of your book on the Halsey family. But I can give you various descendants of this last mentioned couple down to the present, including, among others, Brad Halsey, a starting pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. And other descendants include a Hopkins Halsey, editor of a prominent Athens Georgia newspaper in the early 1800’s.
